Asset Manager

What's new?

  • Search for assets independent of their position in the hierarchy by switching to the search view in the asset list.

  • When an asset representing a subtenant is selected, you can navigate the settings application via the action menu.

  • If you enhanced your plan with the Visual Flow Creator (VFC), you can initiate the workflow creation from the currently selected asset. If workflows are already available for the selected asset, you will be informed about it via a tile showing the workflows status (enabled / disabled).

  • On the event list, you can now select the wanted timerange through the date time picker.

  • Asset Manager now provides the Connectivity Management. It allows a quick and easy overview of assets providing connectivity to MindSphere.

Known issues

  • If a VFC workflow for an asset in a subtenant exists, it is not shown in the respective tile in the Asset Manager for a tenant admin.

  • Fleet Manager navigation is not working correctly if you have to re-login as query parameters are lost. This problem will be addressed soon. Please try again by clicking the Fleet Manager navigation button.

  • The Connectivity Management view currently only shows assets derived of BasicAgent, MindConnect Nano, MindConnect IoT2040, MindConnect Library or Industrial Edge or a derived type of the mentioned ones.

CMS X-Tools V5.0.0.0

Known issues

  • General: X-Tools is capable of uploading huge amounts of data, but you need to keep in mind the limits and purchased size of your MindSphere plan at all times.

  • If the asset path in a Storage Profile contains more than one asset, it might lead to creation of duplicate assets. It can be fixed by deleting those duplicated assets, changing, saving and restarting the Storage Profile.

  • See locally installed release notes.

Known issues

  • Only single asset sharing is available in the first release.

  • Sharing of assets derived from basicAgent and their corresponding plugins is not yet supported.

  • Tenant assets can not be moved under collaborators root asset or shared assets.

  • Unsharing of assets is currently not possible in the UI but via MindSphere Support.

  • Revoking of sharing offers on sharer side is not yet possible.

  • Terminating the collaboration will not remove active sharings and shared assets on the receiver side in the first release.

Data Exploration built on Tableau®

Known issues

  • If you receive NULL values for timestamps on a Windows PC, please change your language for non-Unicode programs to English (United States). You'll find the settings in Control Panel → Region and Language → Administrative.

Fleet Manager

What's new?

  • Cross-Tenancy support - Support for virtual aspects created by Visual Analyzer and shared over Cross-Tenancy:

    • Visualization of virtual aspects from shared assets in the Aspect extension.

  • Granular check for application scopes:

    • If no Fleet Manager scope is present, a warning will be displayed and the application won't be loaded.

Fixed issues

  • Visualization of assets with not interval aligned start time in aspect view.

Identity and Access Management

What's new?

  • Core app roles: MindSphere core applications will release individual roles to provide more flexibility in role assignment.

Known issues

  • If you have problems logging off in Internet Explorer 11, please refer to Overcoming Logout Problems in IE11

  • After a user's role assignments have been changed, e.g., using the Settings app, the changes do not immediately become active. The user must re-login, e.g., by closing the browser and logging in again.

  • App specific roles:

    • Additional core app roles to come soon.

    • Some apps are still accessible via their direct URL and allow using shared functionality that the user has been granted via the app-specific role of a different app.

  • After modifying the authorization of a user via Identity Management Service, the change is not immediately visible. The user must then close the browser and login again.

MindConnect Edge Analytics

Fixed issues

  • Overall bugfixes.

Known issues

  • Deactivating a data point within a MindConnect data source will not deactivate a connection check in Edge Analytics Engine. This can lead an error if the target device is not available anymore.

  • DataBus and Event Based Data Upload configuration can be created with no or deactivated data, which will lead to a critical error on project start.

  • In some sporadic cases of a configuration update via Ege Analytics Manager it can happen that the Mind Connect Nano gets stuck in "project stopping" - In this case the MindConnect Nano has to be rebooted.

  • Note: A full configured monitoring of the Analyzing Packages Vibration Characteristic Values and Vibration Frequency Spectra with all channels of one SM1281 can exceed the CPU performance of the MindConnect Nano. Also in other scenarios dependent of tasks running in parallel on the MindConnect Nano, CPU load can get to high. The recommendation is to use only two full configured Vibration Frequency Spectra Analyzing Packages in parallel.

  • Note: A compatibility check, whether the Edge Analytics Engine version on the target MindConnect Nano supports all possible types of Analyzing Packages, which are offered by EAM, is not yet done. Therefore it has to be made sure that the newest firmware version is installed on the MindConnect Nano when using the new Analyzing Package Vibration Frequency Spectra, otherwise the Edge Analytics Engine will suspend.

  • In case migration of SM1281 configuration has been done with EAE Version 1.0.6 speed is shown with unit m/s - The configuration has to be recreated to fix this issue and show a correct unit in rpm.

MindConnect IoT Extension

What‘s new?

  • User Management Harmonization: By adding new users from MindSphere , they are created automatically in MindConnect IoT Extension. Changing roles from MindSphere reflected to MindConnect IoT Extension as well. No need to add new users from MindConnect IoT Extension.

Known issues

  • Launchpad button is not working in MindConnect IoT Extension. It is not possible to return to the Launchpad via the OS bar. Please use the Launchpad Button in the IoT Extension applications( right corner on the top).

  • Business roles doesn't have Launchpad Button in Iot Extension.

What‘s new?

  • Core app roles: MindSphere core applications will release individual roles to provide more flexibility in role assignment.

  • Custom Roles: Existing roles can be bundled into a custom role to make handling roles easier.

  • Nested User Groups: it is now possible to add whole user groups to other user groups and thus be more efficient in managing users.

  • Minor design improvement within provider information module.

Known issues

  • A deactivated user (or not assigned user at all), who tries to login to this tenant, receives a non-MindSphere error-page and gets no support.

Subtenant Functionality

Known issues

  • The subtenant use case is not yet supported by Data Flow Engine.

  • Applications can use the subtenant functionality via the provided APIs. Tenant administrators should pay attention when assigning such apps to subtenant users as subtenant isolation cannot be ensured by the platform. The app might expose data to the user that is not intended to be seen.

  • When moving an asset from a parent tenant to a subtenant, there might be a delay of up to 30 minutes until a subtenant user will be able to see data related to that asset.

  • Please be aware, if you provide a user (even subtenant user) the role "mdsp:core:TenantAdmin", this user is then able to get access to all kinds of tenant data.

What‘s new?

  • New launchpad icon for Upgrade system tool.

  • Get access to available upgrade products for your tenant to increase your quota instantly.

  • Immediate purchases for TenantAdmins.

  • Purchase request for StandardUsers which will trigger a workflow to TenantAdmins for approval.

  • Get an overview of your purchase requests within your tenant.

  • Support of currently 10 upgrade products via upgrade tool and in-app purchase integration to Fleet Manager Rules and Usage Transparency Service.

Known issues

  • Permission to buy is currently part of tenant admin and will be extracted to a separated role soon.

  • Currently no personalized notifications for subscriptions (TenantAdmin) or subscription requests (StandardUser) are available.

  • Purchasing request notifications are send to all tenant admins.

  • Upgrade is providing a fast provisional access to the requested quota. It requires an approval by the commercial contact who will be informed separately.

  • Supported Language: English only.

  • Supported Currency: EUR only.

Usage Transparency

What‘s new?

  • In-Platform Purchase (IPP) integration into Usage Trandsparency:

    • Newly purchased upgrade/offering will be updated and displayed on Usage Transparency UI immediately.

    • Quantity information for purchased upgrades will be displayed, e. g. if you purchased two items of a particular upgrade, you will see (Qty:2) related to your upgrade packages on Usage Transparency "Limits" overview.

Known issues

  • File Storage (GB)” displays the value 0 (zero) in "Limits“ and "Services“ sections. This is a temporary issue only related to visibility in Usage Transparency without any impact on data storage or availability.

  • In "Reports" or "Overview" section in few cases a time out error message appears when loading the page for a while. As a workaround, after getting error, reload the report for same month with a second click.

Visual Analyzer

Known issues

  • Cross-Tenancy support - Visualization of shared assets and their time series:

    • The shared assets are highlighted via a sharing icon.

    • For these assets time series and events are currently not supported in Visual Analyzer.

Fixed issues

  • Visualization of aggregates data for assets with not interval aligned start time.

Visual Explorer

What‘s new?

Quota Enforcement

Introducing a technical limit of the number of users to the ordered offering, i.e. you will not be able to have more users access the application than contractually agreed.

  1. All users are deleted from Tableau Server (no effect on your data).

  2. When a new user tries to log in the first time, we check the desired role and decide whether they are redirected to the application or not.

  3. If the limit of available licenses has been reached, we display an error message listing the acquired vs. consumed users.

  • License allocation is based on first come, first serve.

  • Example: you have purchased the Visual Explorer Viewer Offering Small, 20 users will get access to the application with the respective rights. The first 20 users who have the role and access the application will be able to use it as desired. The 21st and each following user will not be able to access the application and see the described error message.

  • Role assignment: Settings application is unaffected – role can be assigned without any limitation.

Known issues

  • Any request within Visual Explorer is limited to an execution time of 60s.

  • The "share via link" functionality works unreliable.

  • Support time series data types “LONG” with values for safe integer ->(253-1) to (253-1).

  • If the value is e.g. 263 the value will be reset to safe integer ->253-1

Visual Flow Creator

What‘s new?

  • Custom Nodes:

    • Develop own nodes or re-use existing compatible nodes and deploy them to the VFC.

    • Nodes will appear on the node palette and can be used in workflows.

    • Easy to add and remove custom nodes.

Fixed issues

  • Better handling of charts in debug: flows with a lot of debug nodes can be created and receive timeseries data without crashing.

  • Subtenant use case: when creating a dashboard as a subtenant, this dashboard will be visible to the subtenant.
