Introduction

MindConnect Edge Analytics is an Edge application to collect and preprocess high and low frequency data, corelate them and apply out of the box analysis, to receive valuable information like about the health status of the machines or about the performance of a production process. The calculated data can be sent directly into MindSphere.

The analysis of the data takes place in an application on a MindConnect Nano system. With these calculation results it is possible to perform condition monitoring of assets. The configuration of the MindConnect Edge Device is done via a MindSphere app.

The analysis packages of MindConnect Edge Analytics determine what information is worth sending to MindSphere and what is not, to get insights about the condition of an asset.

MindConnect Edge Analytics offers the following options:

  • Sampling rates up to 50 kHz per second.

  • Local data buffering in memory for analysis then send it to MindSphere for long-term archiving.

You can use the collected data in MindSphere and visualize it with Fleet Manager.

Differences between Edge Analytics and CMS X-Tools

Edge Analytics brings the concepts and experience of CMS X-Tools to MindSphere. Edge Analytics simplifies the configuration and maintenance for higher amounts of assets with clearly defined analyzing packages.

Architecture

The configuration is performed via a web interface inside MindSphere. MindSphere maintains the communication to MindConnect Nano at the plant and receives the configured calculation results via the Internet.

The configuration is performed via a Windows application. All components of CMS X-Tools can run locally at one or multiple PCs. Optionally, any of the data which is available at CMS X-Tools also can be uploaded to MindSphere.
