Adding comments and attachements

Description

You can add contextual information directly to objects, time‑series data points, or assets within the application. This includes writing comments, attaching documents or images, and viewing all entries in their correct context. A search and filter function makes it easy to revisit previously created information.

You can attach comments to:

• Assets
• Time‑series values in a diagram
• Parameters inside the parameter list

Best practices

• Use comments to document decisions, findings, or operational notes.
• Attach files such as screenshots, reports, or analysis documents for better traceability.
• Apply clear and concise comment text to enhance future search results.
• Encourage team members to regularly review new comments for improved collaboration.

Requirements

• Administrator access rights for adding and editing comments and attachments

By default, all users have access rights to view the comments and attachments.

Procedure

1. Navigate to the selected object.

   • For assets:
     Select the asset in the "My Plant" view and click next to the asset name.
   • For parameters:
     Select the parameter in the "Parameter list" view and open its details.
   • For charts:
     Select the chart in the "My Plant" view, open its details and click inside a chart on a timeseries value.

   "Comments" panel is displayed.

2. Enter the comment in the "Comment" field and when needed, upload an attachemnt.

   Attachments

   Attach files to provide additional context, documentation, or supporting material. You can upload the following files:

   • PDF
   • Images
   • Microsoft office or text files

Result

Each comment is stored automatically with the following information:

• Creation or update date and time
• User information
