Defining products

Descrption

Production processes often rely on product or material identifiers from systems such as MES, ERP, or LIMS. These identifiers are usually cryptic and may be difficult to interpret.

In the "Products" view you can define, manage, and assign the products and materials directly to assets within the application. Technical identifiers are consistently translated into human‑readable names across all analyses, improving the clarity of production data and enhancing traceability throughout the system. Because products are always tied to assets, their structure and ownership remain clear and consistent.

Products can be assigned only to assets of the type Site. Root assets serve purely as the top‑level overview and do not support product creation.

Procedure

  1. Navigate to "Configuration" > "Products". All assets of the type "Site" are displayed.
  2. Select an asset.
  3. Click "Add product".
  4. Enter the required information:
    • Product name
    • Product Identifier (material ID, product code, etc.) needs to be unique per asset
    • Optional: description or additional context
  5. Save the entry.

Products and assets

A product is always assigned to exactly one asset, while an asset may have multiple products.
