Configuring Group Results By Settings for a KPI Analysis

Group Results By settings are optional, but the settings determine how analysis results data displays in the chart and results table; for example, you would select group results by field, if you want to see the analysis results grouped by one of the fields in the data, such as location, color, supplier, and so on; or if you want to see the analysis results grouped by date, you can select that along with the interval, such as hour, day, month, and so on. The data will be grouped and distributed along the X-Axis according to your selection.

Group Results By settings are optional, but the system has to have some way to distribute the analysis results along the X-Axis, so if you don't select anything for the group results by setting, the system uses the default setting, which is to group results by date and the time increment is month. You can add up to seven groupings of analysis results. Also, the system applies default names your Group Results By selections, "Group By 1", "Group By 2", but you can change these using the edit (pencil) icon alongside the Group By # name.

How to Configure the Group Results By Settings for Time Series Data Sources

For Time Series data, Group Results By options for 1-60 minutes, 1-24 hours, or 1 Day intervals are supported.

Follow these steps to configure the Group Results By fields:

  1. Accept the default setting (group results by minute and 2 as the interval) or click the drop-down arrow to select hour or day.
  2. Continue to the Filters, Schedule and Share and Notify topics for additional instructions.

Note

  • You may see a visual reminder in the Group Results By section if you have not yet added at least one input to the KPI formula; the Group Results By feature requires at least one input.
  • For discovery analyses, you can configure up to seven Group Results By settings.

How to Configure the Group Results By Settings for Integrated Data Lake Data Sources

Follow these steps to configure the Group Results By fields:

  1. Accept the default setting (group results by month) or, click the drop-down arrow to select hourly, daily, or weekly. The system displays an Add Optional Group button.
  2. Click "Add Optional Group" for each grouping you want to add, up to seven.
  3. To group results by a field, click the "Field" radio button, and click the down caret. The available fields display in a drop-down list.
  4. Select a "field" from the drop-down list. Repeat as needed to add additional groupings.
