Mapping an aspect to a datasource for MindConnect IoT2040¶
Data mapping means matching the variables of an aspect with the respective data points of a datasource.
- Variables of an aspect represent the Industrial IoT data.
- Data points of a datasource represent the data of the MindConnect IoT2040.
To use the data of your MindConnect IoT2040 you have to map them to the respective variables of an aspect.
Requirement¶
You have created an asset based on your desired aspect and asset type.
Browser compatibility
Microsoft Edge browser do have some issues with the user interface (example: "Mapping"). Use another browser like, "Chrome" or "Firefox".
Data mapping can be done in following ways:
Map a variable to a datapoint by using in-cell mapping functionality¶
To map a variable to a datapoint by using in-cell mapping functionality, follow these steps:
- Select the asset in the "Assets" tab, for example: "Wind turbine1".
- Click the MindConnect IoT2040 Plugin icon.
- Click "No mapping available" to map a variable in the Data configuration view for the datapoints added.
- Enter and select the variable to map the datapoint.
Note
Only data types that match exactly with the aspects and variables are available. If they are different, the aspect can’t be connected to the datapoint.
Map a variable to a data point from "Advance Mappings" or "Datapoint Mapping" option¶
To map a variable to a data point by "Advance Mappings" or "Datapoint Mapping" or "Advance Mappings" option, follow these steps:
- Select the asset in the "Assets" tab, for example: "Wind turbine1".
- Click the MindConnect IoT2040 Plugin icon.
- Click "Advance mapping" option on the MindConnect IoT2040 Plugin homepage.
To map a datapoint for the specific datasource, click "Datapoint Mapping" as shown in the image.
4.Select the datapoint to be mapped in the datapoint tab.
5.Enter the asset name and select the variable in the assets tab and click .
You can search and apply filters to the datapoints. Filter options available are shown in the graphic:
Datapoint Filter sorts the data by:
- Grouping: Enabling this option groups the datapoints with corresponding datasources.
- Datapoint type: Selecting this option displays the datapoints only for the selected datapoint types.
- Mapping: This option filters the datapoints based on the mapping status.
After selecting the datapoint filters, click "Apply". In order to reset the filters to default selection, click "Reset to default".
You can also search and apply filters to Assets. Filter options available are shown in the graphic:
Asset filter sorts the data by:
- Compatible Variables : Enabling this option displays the variables that are compatible with the selected datapoint for corresponding datatypes.
- Mapping: This option filters the variables based on the mapping status.
To know the asset hierarchy, click from the assets tab.
After selecting the Asset filters, click "Apply". In order to reset the filters to default selection, click "Reset to default".
If the selected datapoints are not mapped to any variable, enable "Show all" toggle as shown in the graphic, all the mapped datapoints are displayed.
6.To map multiple datapoint, select an another variable to be mapped and click .
Result¶
The datapoint is now mapped to the variable. User can also perform mappings for multiple datapoints.
The following graphic shows a data mapped variable:
The following graphic shows a multiple data mapped variable, the number before the mapping defines the number of datapoints mapped to the variable:
