This guide outlines the transition process from Insights Hub's existing Identity and Access Management (IAM) service to the centralized Xcelerator IAM and Gateway services. It is intended for application developers, tenant admins who need to adapt their applications to work with the new authentication framework, and admins responsible for connecting their agents to ensure data is transferred correctly.

Background

Siemens Xcelerator is software for industry that gives you what you need to accelerate digital transformation. It is a comprehensive portfolio of software that gives you the tools to design products, realize their capabilities through manufacturing and optimize them to ensure best performance.

Insights Hub is an integral part of the Xcelerator portfolio and as such adopting common Siemens Xcelerator technology to make the experience between Insights Hub and other Siemens Xcelerator offerings seamless, easy, and effective. You will benefit from an improved user experience as you use Insights Hub and other Siemens software on your digital journey. As part of this journey, you will notice that the applications and APIs will be accessible via the siemens.app domain replacing the current mindsphere.io domain. For instance, the new URL for the Monitor application will be in the format <your-tenant-id>-operationsinsight-1000001700.eu1.siemens.app. We require your help to successfully complete this transition.

Migration Strategy

The migration will follow a structured approach, as mentioned below:

  • Insights Hub will transition your account to the new Xcelerator IAM and gateway services. You will be notified separately about the date of transition, when your tenants will be made accessible via the new siemens.app domain. For more information, refer to Tenant Admin.
  • Insights Hub provides the firmware updates for your MindConnect devices to make them compatible with the new Xcelerator IAM.
  • During your account transition, you need to install firmware updates on your devices and update agents using MindConnect Library and MindConnect MQTT. For more information, refer to Connectivity changes.
  • You have to adopt Xcelerator IAM and the new domain to access APIs in your custom applications. For more information, refer to Application changes.
  • We will transition your account to Xcelerator IAM, only after all the applications are refactored and are confirmed compatible with the new Xcelerator IAM service.
