Creating a query with Asset Static Data Source

This section explains the procedure to create a query by using the Asset Static data source.

Prerequisites

  • At least one Asset with static data

Procedure

  1. Click "Dashboards" in the left navigation.
  2. Click "New" and select "New dashboard" from the drop-down list.

  3. Click "+ Add visualization".

  4. Select an asset from the drop-down.
  5. Choose a visualization panel option that does not require a time field (like Table, Stat, Geomap, or Text panels). alt text

Use a Dashboard Query Variable (Optional)

If you have a Dashboard Variable with type "Query and Data source: IoT Time Series", you can use it as a templated option in your Static Asset dashboard panels.

  1. Navigate to the Dashboard "Settings" variables menu.
  2. Select Query variable type with Data Source query option, "IoT Time Series".
  3. Select your Asset Type, Asset, and Aspect. Wildcard selections are supported by typing a * into the text box. alt text
  4. With the Asset Static Data selected for your data source, edit a panel in your Dashboard and select the variable you have created. It will be surrounded by a template indicator like this: ${variable}.
  5. Viewers of your dashboard can now see this variable and switch between the available options to update their view of the dashboard. alt text
