Connecting data point and variable¶
Data mapping means matching variables of an aspect with the respective data points of a data source.
- Variables of an aspect represent data.
- Data points of a data source represent the data of the MindConnect LIB.
To use the data of your MindConnect LIB, you need to map the data points to the respective variables of an aspect.
Requirement¶
You have created an asset based on your desired aspect and type.
Procedure¶
To map a variable to a data point, for example "RotationSpeed", follow these steps:
- Click on the asset in the "Assets" tab, for example, "Wind turbine".
- Click on the plugin icon "MindConnect Lib" to open the MindConnect LIB plugin.
- Click "Add mapping" for the data point you want to map, or navigate to the "Advanced Mappings" view.
- Select the data point you want to map.
- Find the previously created asset, for example "Wind Turbine".
Note
- To select a different asset, enter any name you want to search for.
- To display only the compatible assets, you can activate the "Only compatible" option in the filter.
6.Select the variable you want to link, for example, "RotationSpeed".
Note
Only data types that match exactly with the aspects and variables are available. If they are different, the variable cannot be mapped to the data point.
7.click "Add mapping" to map the data point to the variable.
The following graphic shows a mapped variable:
Result¶
